Board Members

Debbie Reid

Debbie is the Founder and Director of Bikes for Kids Utah. Currently Debbie works for Recovery Ways, a Residential Treatment Center for Drug and Acohol Abuse in Murray UT. Debbie has worked in the event planning industry for several years creating corporate events and international incentive based trips. In her free time, Debbie enjoys cycling, reading, traveling and a good meal with friends.

Glen Perry

Glen is the Vice President for Alder Construction Co., Salt Lake City, UT. Glen is an avid road cyclist, fly fishermen and snowboarder. Glen rides his road bike an average of 100 miles per week, including several Century rides each summer. Glen enjoys fly fishing in Utah and Wyoming's rivers with wife and two children. Most winter weekends Glen is on his snowboard with his family. Glen is an active member and President-Elect of the Murray, Utah Rotary Club and has served as a active member of the board of directors of Bikes For Kids Utah since it's beginning in 2006.

Sharyle Karren

Sharyle is an Elementary school principal at Willow Springs Elementary. She has been an administrator in High School and Elementary school for 18 years. Sharyle is also an adjunct faculty for USU and BYU in gifted education masters program. Sharyle has been a board member of Bikes for Kids Utah since it's beginning in 2006 and is in charge of assigning the 1,000 bikes to 1,000 children in Utah. Sharyle is an avid cyclist, swimmer and enjoys triathlons.

Chip Smith

Chip is one of the original Bikes for Kids Utah's board members and helps oversee the organizations marketing communications. He is the owner and president of SOAR Communications, a full-service marketing communications agency focused on the Sport, Outdoor, Athletics and Recreation industries. His passion for sports helped him develop into a successful marketing professional with more than 25 years of experience in the sporting goods, healthcare, software and communications industries. The majority of those years were spent with sporting goods industry leaders Shimano American Corporation and Specialized Bicycles, Inc.

Todd Reid

Todd is the General Agent of MassMutual / Intermountain Financial Group in Salt Lake City, with offices in Montana and Idaho. Todd has been in the financial services industry for 17 years. Todd is one of the original Board Members and many aspect of Bikes for Kids Utah came from Todd's inspiration. Todd is an avid hunter, fisherman, cyclist and runner. Todd has spent the past four years as the coach of his son's baseball team.

Sherry Wasden

Sherry retired from education after working for Jordan School District for 40 plus years.She has been an Elementary School Principal, Asst. Supt. for Curriculum and Staff Development and retired from Jordan School District in December 2009 as Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Staff Development. Sherry has worked with Bikes for Kids since it's beginning in 2006, she joined the Board in March of 2010. Sherry enjoys reading, quilting, cooking, traveling and time with family and friends.

Chelsea Malouf

Chelsea loves her job as the Assistant Principal at Edison Elementary School in the Salt Lake City School District. She has been an active member of Bikes for Kids Utah since 2007. During that time, she has coordinated the Bike Safety Rodeo and organized the fundraising dinner each year. When she isn't working, Chelsea enjoys road biking, swimming, golfing, paper crafting, and spending time with family and friends.

John Karren

John has been a member of the Bikes for Kids Board of Directors since 2008 overseeing the Bikes For Kids charity rides and races fundraising for the bike giveaways that is done each year in May. John has been serving families in wilderness therapy programs for over a decade. He founded Elements Wilderness Program, and has had extensive experience as both an admissions counselor and an admissions director. John loves the outdoors and is passionate about its power to change and heal families. Born in the California Bay Area, John moved at a young age to Salt Lake City, Utah where he became involved in skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing and cycling.John an avid triathlete where swimming is his best event.

 

Jay Elggren

Jay Elggren has been on the Board of Directors of Bikes for Kids since it's beginning. Jay enjoys cycling, skiing, outdoors, Utah. Jay is the owner of Blackbottoms Cyclewear. Jay, his wife, Tara and four children live at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon. Jay likes chasing rainbows & sunny days.

James Kimball

James Kimball is a financial advisor with Intermountain Financial Group. He is an avid cyclist, skier, golfer and enjoys camping and river rafting. He enjoys spending time with family and friends and his tiger of a cat, Leo.
